Bruce Cutter

Bruce Cutter first saw THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW on May 31, 1981, at the Meadowdale Theatre in Carpentersville, Illinois; he has continued to be involved with ROCKY HORROR in one way or another ever since. He performed in the Chicago area and was at the last showing of RHPS at the Biograph Theatre. In the summer of 1986, he joined "The World Renowned Celluloid Jam" at the Oriental Theatre in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. To Bruce, the Jam years will always be remembered as "the best of times."

In 1990 he published the first issue of his ROCKY HORROR literary magazine, Dark Refrain. Unlike most fanzines, Dark Refrain is a special forum for short stories, poems and artwork related to ROCKY HORROR that also includes a continuing discography of ROCKY HORROR recordings (one of Bruce's specialties). He followed up Dark Refrain I with a second issue in 1991 and a third issue in 1994. A fourth issue is expected in January 1996. To help pay for the publishing costs of Dark Refrain, Bruce started his own mail order ROCKY HORROR memorabilia store, Memories of the Past. His store sells many common RHPS/RHS items and specializes in locating rare and out-of-print merchandise and recordings.

Bruce along with his business travels all over the world to attend ROCKY-related events and to meet the RHPS stars. His favorite events have included the 10th Anniversary at the Beacon Theatre in New York City in 1985, the 15th Anniversary at the Fox Studios in Los Angeles, California in 1990, THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW and Transylvania '94 in England in October 1994, and meeting Patricia Quinn, Jonathan Adams, Barry Bostwick, Tim Curry, Richard O'Brien, and Nell Campbell.

Collecting memorabilia has become his favorite part of ROCKY HORROR and he has one of the most complete collections of memorabilia in existence. He contributed the Memorabilia Section for the Official ROCKY HORROR Web Page and his goal is to publish a complete ROCKY HORROR Memorabilia Guide.

Bruce received a BA in theatre from Columbia College, Chicago. He has worked in the Chicago area as an actor in theatre and industrial films. Bruce currently works in the marketing department for a major educational publishing company.
